2013: A Year in Review

By Michael Hughes

2013 has been an incredible year!  Last week we met with our business advisors and reviewed all the key milestones in 2013 and accomplishments and we were overwhelmed.  Thanks to each and every member who believes in what we are doing and have shared their testimony with their friends and co-workers, this year has been one of growth and success.

It brought us a lot of joy to go back through some of the key memories in 2013!  Enjoy the snapshots!

January 2013
We celebrated 3 years in business and had a great party!

February 2013
We introduced our benchmarking programs Force & Velocity to allow members to track their gains and add more traditional strength training for those seeking to build more muscle. Our members loved it so much they sweated in hearts.

March 2013

We started an internship program, which brought us Lucas Chatham!  We also ran a youth weight loss program for Arroyo Grande High School, led by Shannon Kelly, helping to instill positive self-image and confidence in at risk youth.  We also notably made our version of the Harlem Shake video ...

April 2013

We donated collectively over $3,000 in a Neon Fun Run for Not For Sale to help buy child sex slaves  in Thailand out of slavery. Everyone came with a lot of spirit for an incredible cause!

May 2013

This month was the turning point of the year. It was the month Paden & Michael found the Parker Street location and signed the lease for a new location. It was also our last month with Amanda and Shannon as coaches before they embarked on new career paths.

June 2013

In June we spent every night and weekend working on the facility and the month flew by. We hired Derek and Lucas as trainers. We celebrated with Trevor and Derek as they graduated from Cal Poly with a degree in Kinesiology. The final weekend in the month we had a moving parade with many of our member carrying our equipment 1.9 miles to the new Parker Street facility! Watch this video to see the before and after pictures of the facility culminated with the moving parade.  Click here to watch.

July 2013

We officially opened our new location and added Saturday workouts and new Airo times. It was record breaking month. Attendance was high and new members began to join.

August 2013

We threw a big Open House and said goodbye to our longest coach Trevor, as he moved away to go to get his Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

September 2013

We welcomed Richard Smith as one of our coaches and took a coach trip to a Chain Reaction seminar in San Diego to learn more about Applied Functional Science.  We also ran in the 1st Annual Ravine Water Park Mud Run!

October 2013

This month we launched our Youth Development training program for 6th-8th grade athletes and it has been growing ever since! It was a social month as well with two events this month! We raced in our annual Mud Mash where we took 1st place out of all the teams. We also threw a Halloween party with some amazing costumes!

November 2013

We collected cans for the Food Bank and threw our 1st Thanksgiving Potluck where 75 of us celebrated the holiday season together!

December 2013

We enjoyed a holiday dinner at Central Coast Culinary and put up a Christmas tree thanks to one of our generous members!

Thank you all for being a part of this wonderful year!  We cannot wait to celebrate 2014 with you all at our January 4th party at the Elk's Lodge!
